Jackfruit Curry Recipe

This sumptuous curry blends coconut milk and spices with delicious jackfruit! This distinctive fruit grows well in warm tropical and sub-tropical climates and is a popular, nutritious, and versatile food in South and Southeast Asia. Typically, the sweeter ripe jackfruit is used in desserts, while unripe jackfruit works well in curries and has an almost meat-like texture.

Ingredients for Jackfruit Curry

  • 0,5 kg jackfruit
  • 1 large onion
  • 6-8 cloves of garlic
  • 2 inch ginger, slice
  • 1 tsp. red chilli pepper
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 inch cinnamon
  • 4-5 clove
  • 3 tomatoes – finely chopped
  • 2 cup of coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

How to Make a Jackfruit Curry

  1. Cut the jackfruit into thick large pieces
  2. Heat the oil add the add the minced onion, ginger and garlic Cook about 5 minutes
  3. Add cinnamon, cloves, pepper and the curry powder. Cook 1 minute
  4. Add the tomatoes and coconut milk cook 7-8 minutes.
  5. Add the jackfruit. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low. Cook for a 25 minutes
  6. Using 2 forks shred the jackfruit. Add salt to taste
